Sinéad Geary
Sinead Geary - Visual Artist
Sinéad Geary is an Irish artist living and working in London. She graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Textiles from Middlesex University and went on to complete a Master of Fine Art at Kingston University.
Her practice ranges from figurative etching to painterly abstract works. The abstract paintings typically evolve through a subtractive process, beginning with intense colour and bold, vigorous brushstrokes. Paint is layered, rubbed back, and reworked repeatedly, allowing earlier marks and traces to remain visible beneath the surface.
Sinead’s work seeks to evoke forgotten moments and internal states, where time and space become fragmented and uncertain. Rather than depicting literal imagery, she aims to capture an essence of feeling — unseen, internal emotions that surface without the distraction of recognisable forms. The resulting works draw the viewer in, hinting at the exploration of unconscious memory, clashing narratives, and the tension and balance that exist within them.
